China criticized the US for the flights of B-52 in the South China Sea region and demanded Washington to improve military relations amid growing tensions between the two countries, Reuters reported. 

According to Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang, China resolutely opposed the provocative US military actions in the South China Sea.

Last weekend, the Chinese MFA summoned the US ambassador to Beijing and postponed the joint military talks in protest against Washington's decision to impose sanctions on a high-ranking military official.

Beijing also refused to grant access to a US warship to visit Hong Kong.

China was angered this week when the US approved the sale of spare parts for F-16 fighter planes and other military aircraft worth up to $330 million to Taiwan.
