YEREVAN. – The upcoming La Francophonie summit in Yerevan shall not become only a platform for meeting of the heads of states, but also a real celebration, French Ambassador Jonathan Lacôte said at a press conference on Friday.

The French diplomat recalled that Armenia’s capital city will host delegations from the governments of 84 countries, most of which have no embassies in Armenia. Thus, as per Lacôte, they will discover Armenia, and Yerevan will become the capital city of La Francophonie for a week in October.

The French ambassador added that a ministerial meeting and business forum also will be convened within the framework of next month’s 17th summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).

Also, Jonathan Lacôte stated that French President Emmanuel Macron’s official visit to Armenia will immediately precede the summit, and therefore this trip will give greater intensity to the summit’s agenda.

The diplomat noted that the French language will be represented with all its delicacies in the forthcoming OIF summit in Yerevan.
