The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is important for securing the energy supply to Germany, said German Energy Secretary Thomas Bareiss.

“I know the U.S. has concerns ... but it is not so easy. For Germany, Russia has always been a safe and reliable supplier for gas,” Reuters reported quoting Bareiss.

According to him, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline must be implemented, because the pipeline provides power supply in Europe. Bareiss noted that Germany will invest 50 billion euros in 2030 in the improvement and expansion of its electrical networks.
