YEREVAN. – The German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s visit to Yerevan was very successful, the German Ambassador to Armenia Matthias Kiesler told Armenian News- NEWS.am.
His remark came during the opening of “Who We Are” exhibition of the famous German artist Herbert Mayer, dedicated to the Day of German Unity.
According to him, along that she came it was the very first time the German head of state or government came to Armenia.
“I think that she came at the right moment, just after the changes we had here. There is a big number of areas where we want to do more. We want to do more in education, in science, in migration issues,” he said
According to him, the German side is working at the moment together with the office of Armenian foreign ministry and PM’s office to put all ideas together and to have a package of new activities and projects.
“I cannot give you the details at the moment but these are very ambitious program and of course we would like to see more economic exchange between our countries,” he said, adding “Mrs. Merkel always takes CEOs of top German companies with their delegations, and they were happy when they had contacts with their Armenian counterparts here. So, I think there are a lot of reasons for the successful cooperation, but it is very important to have a follow-up and to have very concrete things. And this is what Angela Merkel and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed: we want to do not words, deeds.”
