Over 5.5 thousand polling stations opened on Sunday in Bosnia and Herzegovina where general elections are held, N1 reported. 

The citizens will vote for the new Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which consists of three members representing each of the country’s major ethnic groups (Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats).

Two entities of the country, Federation Bosnia and Herzegovina, where majority of the population are Bosniaks and Croats, and Republika Srpska, mostly populated by Serbs, will also hold elections for their parliaments and, in the case of the latter, President and Vice President.

The elections in the country are monitored by 6424 observers, including 1.5 thousand foreigners. The electoral process in the municipalities is monitored by about 60 thousand representatives of political parties. According to analysts, voter turnout will be the lowest since independence.
