The fifth congress of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) has opened in Yerevan today. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and representatives of parliamentary groups will be present.
The delegates will discuss reports of the party’s political council, as well as elect head of the party and members of the political council, party’s press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Heads of the parties, members of the ruling coalition, were scheduled to meet on Friday to discuss further cooperation, in particular the 2012 parliamentary and 2013 presidential elections. However, the meeting did not take place.
Armenia’s ruling coalition includes Republican Party of Armenia, Prosperous Armenia Party, and Orinats Yerkir Party (Rule of Law). The Prosperous Armenia was founded by Armenian businessman Gagik Tsarukyan. It debuted in 2007 Armenian parliamentary elections, winning 18 seats in Armenia’s National Assembly.
