German Chancellor Angela Merkel is ready to leave the position of the chairman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU).
Merkel announced her intention during the meeting of the party. The reports come after her party suffered losses in two regional elections.
The party will hold a conference in December to elect party leadership.
