Violent clashes between the protestors and police broke out on Wednesday in the Libyan city of Benghazi. The demonstrators protested against arrest of the opposition leader. Some sources say the oppositionist was released but the protests continued in the country, Russian Kommersant newspaper reported.
About 2,000 people took to the streets, while police was using tear gas, water jets and rubber bullets.
The Libyan authorities have not commented on recent developments yet. The state television is broadcasting only pro-government statements.
