The Armenian Government`s steps increase social discontent and generate inflation, the economist Ara Nranyan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) faction, told journalists February 16.

"As far back as last year, in appraising the Government`s activities we stated its steps were actually bring about the crisis because the Government`s activities were fuelling inflation and aggravating the socio-economic situation," he said.

Nranyan pointed out that the Government is going to submit a bill on parking taxes, which will fuel social discontent.

According to him, people are ready to go out into the streets and struggle for their rights.

"If people believe they can change the situation, it may cause social shocks and play a decisive role during the 2012 parliamentary elections," Nranyan said.
