A total of 1464 road accidents have been registered by Rosgosstrakh-Armenia agency since the beginning of 2011. Most cases were registered on February 1 and 4. The company has paid 350 accident compensations, on average about $440 for each.
Company’s executive Gagik Grigoryan says about $820,000 will be paid for the accident which had already occurred. He calls the figures “alarming” but is hopeful the number of accidents will reduce at the end of winter.
Grigoryan stressed fraud cases also increase. In particular, owners of damaged cars shoulder blame to get larger compensation. However, director of the insurance company warned the contracts will be more expensive for these drivers in the future.
