The sociologist Aharon Adibekyan is happy over the disagreements between Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), as the competition and disagreement may lead to true democratic elections, Head of Sociometer centre Aharon Adibekyan told a press conference on February 17.

According to him, PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s hint that the second Armenian president may return to politics and lead their party is up in the air, as Kocharyan’s approach is different.

“If Prosperous Armenia Party achieves its goal in gaining 50+1, it may decide who will become the next Armenian President. However, if Republicans maintain their current positions, they will have more opportunities for presidential elections,” Adibekyan said.

In conclusion, the sociologist stressed there were disagreements both in the coalition and opposition.

It is noteworthy the sociologist was unaware that the Prosperous Armenia Party has agreed to sign a new coalition memorandum and will support incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan at 2013 presidential elections.
