A new coalition memorandum was signed by three parties for benefit of people and Armenia’s statehood, said spokesperson for the leader of Prosperous Armenia Party.

Talking to the journalists on Monday, Khachik Galstan said coalition forces faced difficulties which were caused by minor problems. “Unless a new memorandum was signed, disagreement could get beyond bounds,” he said.

Armenia’s ruling coalition includes Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), and Orinats Yerkir Party (the Rule of Law).

The representative of PAP refuted reports saying the party initially opposed supporting of incumbent president in the 2013 election. Galstan also refuted rumors that coalition memorandum was imposed on the party.

Spokesperson for the party advised that opposition should follow the authorities’ lead to unite in a single camp, noting three main oppositional forces in the country: Armenian National Congress, ARF Dashnaktsutyun and the Heritage party. He also did not rule out the possibility that People’s Party headed by Tigran Karapetyan may join the opposition.

The coalition agreement envisages the three ruling forces’ joint participation in the 2012 parliamentary elections and the support for a common candidate in the 2013 presidential election.
