Police forces defected to protesters in the city of Benghazi in eastern Libya. The city is under the control of insurgents, transmits RIA Novosti reported on February 21 referring to Al-Jazeera.
Riots in Benghazi are ongoing from February 15. Protesters are demanding the overthrow of the Muammar Gaddafi, who runs the country for over 40 years, and political reforms.
