A former employee of the abolished Ministry of National Security was shot dead in Baku, Azerbaijani media reported.

According to the district prosecutor's office, the 45-year-old Fariz Vakhabov was killed. When the man parked his car, an unknown person, shot him several times. Two bullets hit the former intelligence officer in the face and in the chest. The man died on the spot.

An investigation is underway.
