Turkish authorities have fined two TV channels for criticizing the government on the air, Reuters reported. 

According to the source, the Turkish Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) will temporarily suspend the talk show on Halk TV over comments made by prominent actors Mujdat Gezen and Metin Akpinar, an RTUK official said.

Insulting the president is considered a crime in Turkey.

Three future broadcasts of the main news program on the Fox TV were also suspended after the comments of the news presenter were interpreted as calls for protests against gas price increases.
