Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan held a meeting Feb. 22 with Asad Alam, Country Director, South Caucasus Country Department, Europe and Central Asia, World Bank (WB).

The Armenian Government`s press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the side discussed prospects for developing bilateral cooperation under the country partnership strategy program for 2009-2012, as well as ways of distributing WB funds.

The sides prioritized joint reform programs in the agricultural, healthcare, education and management sectors.

Premier Sargsyan informed the WB official of the Government-approved sustainable agricultural development strategy for 2010-2020. In this context, the Armenian Premier stressed the importance of developing cooperative associations, livestock breeding and seed growing.

With respect to healthcare reforms, Premier Sargsyan underlined the importance of renovating hospitals, retraining doctors and introducing a system that would meet international standards.  

Among education priorities is proper certification of educational institutions.
