Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi held a telephone conversation with Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi amid a bloody crackdown in the country.

During a 20-minute conversation Berlusconi stressed the necessity to resolve the conflct peacefully to prevent a risk of civil war, Vzglyad reports. He refuted the reports that Italy supplied demonstrators with weapons in the city of Benghazi.  

The Libyan strongman said “everything is calm” in the country and Libyan mass media spread true information.
