To succeed as a Euronest member Armenia should honor its commitments to implement demographic reforms, Vahan Hovhannisyan, the Head of the Armenian delegation to Euronest and Chairman of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) parliamentary faction, told a press conference Feb 23.

He stressed that the Euronest sets stringent requirements to its members, as the European countries view them as potential EU members. "However, when you mention Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev`s name to European delegates, they get confused, unable to say anything, "Hovhannisyan said. He doubts the Armenian authorities` willingness to meet European standards. "Do the Armenian authorities want to integrate into the European Union? Are they willing to honor their commitments? I have suspicions about it. Yes, the Armenian authorities say they are for the reforms. However, will they be implemented - and when?" Hovhannisyan said.

As regards national delegations to Euronest, Hovhannisyan said that the Armenian delegation includes membersof all the parliamentary factions, including the opposition ones. The Georgian and Azerbaijani delegations are composed of only pro-government MPs.

Hovhannisyan said he knows the head of the Azeri delegation, a native of Armenia and a reserved person. "The Azeri delegation includes persons with interesting biographies, natives of Armenia among them," Hovhannisyan said.

Euronest will hold its annual plenary sessions in Brussels or in the capital of one of its member-states.
