Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Georgy Petrosyan, who is on a week-long visit to Canada at the invitation of the Hay Dat committee, held a number of meetings with representatives of Canadian political circles.
On February 18 and 20, Minister Petrosyan made keynote addresses at meetings in Toronto and Montreal on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the Karabakh movement. The NKR FM pointed out the need for combined efforts by Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and the Diaspora to find an effective solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem.
In Toronto, Minister Petrosyan held meetings with representatives of Armenia political parties - the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D), Ramkavar Azatakan and Social-Democratic Party Hnchakian, as well as with Hay Dat committee members. The NKR FM dwelt on the latest developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
The NKR Foreign Minister also held a meeting with Harold Glenn Albrecht, Chairman of the Armenian-Canadian friendship group and member of the Conservative Party of Canada, as well as with other Canadian political figures. During the meeting the sides discussed the current situation in the Caucasus in the context of the latest developments in the world. Minister Petrosyan also pointed out the fact of Azerbaijan increasing its military potential at an unprecedented rate, which may destabilize the situation in the region. Minister Petrosyan also stressed that Azerbaijan has lately intensified anti-Armenian propaganda.
On February 24, the NKR Foreign Minister is to leave Canada for the United States.
