YEREVAN. – Armenia’s standing has considerably risen in recent times at international organizations, and the interest shown toward the situation in the country attests to this.

Head of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA), Hayk Konjoryan from the majority “My Step” Faction at the NA, noted the above-said at Wednesday’s press conference of the delegation members.

In his words, in the case when in the past the interest toward Armenia was conditioned solely by the matter of resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict, now this interest is linked to the ongoing democratic processes in the country. As per the MP, this will enable Armenia to more deeply penetrate into the ongoing processes within the OSCE PA, and it provides opportunities for promoting and lobbying for the country’s as well as for establishing new contacts.

Also, Konjoryan noted that the Head of Mission for the OSCE PA observers, Peter Osusky—who had visited Armenia during the country’s snap parliamentary election in December of the year past—had addressed at the recent Winter Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

“The latter [Osusky] stressed that the elections in Armenia were held on the basis of fundamental freedoms,” the head of the Armenian delegation added. “At the end he announced that he has become the eyewitness of the ‘Armenian miracle.’ At the same time he said that, throughout his twenty years of activities, the elections in Armenia were the most impressive to him; and he stated this from such a high platform.”

The recent Winter Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was convened on February 21 and 22, in Vienna.
