A US-China trade agreement is far from completion and will require much more work, said the US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.
“Much still needs to be done before an agreement can be reached. If we can complete this effort, and again I say if, and can reach a satisfactory solution to the issue of enforceability ... we might have an agreement that turns the corner in our economic relationship with China,” AP reported quoting Lighthizer.
According to him, the US administration insists on structural changes in China, including stopping commercial secrets from being stolen, restrictions on government support for Chinese companies, and stopping the forced transfer of technology from US companies as a condition of access to Chinese markets.
