President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, on Thursday received French Ambassador Jonathan Lacôte, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Armenia Mission Director Deborah Grieser, as well as French Conseil d’État (Council of State) delegation members Yves Doutriaux and Yves Gounin who are in Armenia at the invitation of the USAID, and within the framework of the Strengthening of Electoral Processes and Political Accountability program.

Mirzoyan noted that the reforms of the election law, establishment of the electoral system, and development of relevant institutes are considered an important part of Armenia’s political agenda.

Highlighting the meetings in such format, Ambassador Lacôte stressed that the representatives of various organizations in Armenia were interested in bilateral cooperation.

Grieser, for her part, assured that the USAID was ready to continue and complete the ongoing joint programs.

At the request of the guests, the speaker of the Armenian parliament presented the steps to be taken toward the implementation of reforms in Armenia’s election law, the fight against corruption, and the format of the needed legal regulations.

The interlocutors highlighted the active cooperation between the NA and the international organizations functioning in Armenia.

President of the National Assembly of Armenia expressed his readiness to assist in more extensive cooperation.
