The US and South Korea decided to suspend the annual military maneuvers that the North Korean government sharply criticizes, Deutsche Welle reported.

Washington and Seoul decided to abandon military exercises in order to make progress in the process of complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. However, the armies of the countries will continue to remain in combat readiness, the Pentagon noted.

According to Pentagon, the US and Korea will continue to work closely together in defense field.
