During a meeting with Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan expressed his concern about the fact that some of his Russian counterparts had participated in an anti-Armenian event organized in Baku on 26 February, reports the press service of Armenia’s National Assembly.

In the context of the two countries’ interstate relations, Alen Simonyan highlighted the role of the Armenian-Russian parliamentary partnership, assuring that the inter-parliamentary committee on cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation would continue its fruitful work through its co-chairs.

In regard to further deepening of the relations between the friendly nations, Simonyan attached importance to the Ambassador’s active support and participation and expressed willingness to cooperate.

The parties underlined the importance of the current level of the inter-parliamentary relations for advancing the Russian-Armenian political agenda and reached an agreement to organize meetings and discussions more frequently.
