On 8 March, political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the Netherlands in Yerevan. The Armenian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Avet Adonts, and the Dutch delegation — by Deputy Director-General for Political Affairs of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pieter Jan Kleiweg de Zwaan.

During the consultations, the interlocutors discussed a broad range of issues on the bilateral political agenda and exchanged views on the perspectives for further deepening of cooperation in trade, economy and other sectors.

During the meeting, the parties highly appreciated the high-level political dialogue that has recently become active.

Touching upon the current stage of Armenia-EU cooperation and the perspectives for development, the Armenian party presented the process of implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement prepared by the Government of the Republic of Armenia and attached importance to speedy ratification of the Agreement by the Netherlands.

The launch of a dialogue over EU visa liberalization and EU member states’ support to visa liberalization were touched upon.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on several pressing regional and international issues and touched upon the latest developments for the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The opportunities for partnership between the two friendly countries within international organizations were also considered during the Armenian-Dutch political consultations.
