There has not been, there is no and there can’t be an entity endowed with the status of “First Lady” in the history of the Republic of Armenia. This is what co-founder of One Armenia Party Artur Ghazinyan posted on his Facebook page and explained the conditions that this status implies.
“There has not been, there is no and there can’t be an entity endowed with the status of “First Lady” in the history of the Republic of Armenia as long as:
1. the presidential form of governance is not established in Armenia and
2. the entity is not enshrined by legislation, does not have its office, an approved budget and clearly established public and political functions.
If the incumbent authorities and their supporters wish to particularly emphasize the special role and status of Pashinyan’s wife in politics, they have to make up a new name.
If, however, the public wants to see a “First Lady” in Armenia, it has to seek that “First Lady” among the family of the President of the Republic of Armenia which, I repeat, will be strictly formal and conditional,” his Facebook post reads.
