The government is surrendering eminence. This is what ex-minister of defense and First Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Vigen Sargsyan wrote on his Facebook page.
He particularly wrote the following: “They are trying to alienate the property of the Military and Sports College named after Monte Melkonian in Dilijan for commercial purposes.
Based on my information, the Department of State Property Management has actively started the process. They believed this was too much for the army, particularly cadets. I couldn’t believe it because the source was a technician of the Department of State Property Management, but a high-ranking official of the Ministry of Defense personally confirmed the information today.
What became the best military college in the region in a year and what Armenia could use to attract the brightest young people with potential towards service as a military officer is going to go to waste.
Whereas military-patriotic discipline was unnecessary in the past, now there is no need for military education either.
I call on all members of society and every patriotic person to stand with the Ministry of Defense and not let it deprive our future officers of the best opportunities for an education.
Monte: a road to eminence”.
