The chair of the budget committee of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Richard Neal, sent an official request to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) with a request to provide information on President Donald Trump’s personal and corporate tax returns for the past 6 years, The Guardian reported. 

“We have completed the necessary groundwork for a request of this magnitude and I am certain we are within our legitimate legislative, legal, and oversight rights,” Neal wrote.

Recently, Neal, who is the only lawmaker who has the right to demand information about the president’s taxes, was under pressure from a number of Democrats and political groups outside Congress.

Representatives of the Finance Ministry have not yet commented on this request.
