Kazakhstan’s interim president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, called for snap presidential election on Tuesday, referring to the need to eliminate political uncertainty in the oil-rich Central Asian nation.
The elections are scheduled to be held on June 9, 2019.
The last elections in Kazakhstan were held on April 26, 2015. Nursultan Nazarbayev won the elections, gaining about 98% of the vote.
