At the Izmir Book Fair, Rober Koptaş, the Armenian director of Aras publishing house of Turkey, almost sold to a Turkish police officer the novel, entitled The Forty Days of Musa Dagh, by writer Franz Werfel.

“I was about to sell to a police officer the [novel on the] Musa Dagh resistance. I had made a nice discount, too. He was about to take [the book],” Koptaş wrote on Twitter. “Then he looked at my badge, ‘Are you from here?’ he said. ‘No, I’m from Istanbul,’ I said. Then something happened, he went away from the stand at jet speed.”

The novel is based on the Armenians’ 40-day-long resistance against the Ottoman troops at Musa Dagh in 1915, during World War I, and at the beginning of the Armenian Genocide.
