From July 24 to 25, the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia hosted an international conference devoted to human rights protection in the business sector.

Among the participants of the conference were representatives of the Office of the Human Rights Defender, of the Ombudsmen of Bulgaria and Georgia, of Armenia’s state bodies and NGOs, as well as experts and deputies of the National Assembly.

In his opening remarks, Armenia’s Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan presented the areas and principles of the activities of the Ombudsman in the sectors of business and public services.

The participants were also introduced to the legislative proposal to introduce the institution of anti-monopoly compliance targeted at protection of interests of businessmen — developed by the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia.

In his welcoming remarks, Chair of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia Mikayel Melkumyan attached importance to the promotion of businesses in Armenia and underscored the role of the Human Rights Defender.

The representatives of the Ombudsmen of Armenia, Bulgaria and Georgia exchanged their best practices, exploring the role of national institutions for human rights protection, including in the spheres of protection of employment rights and intellectual property rights.
