By the government’s decision, AMD 4,320,000 was allocated from the reserve fund to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, which will, through a grant contract, allocate the funds to the Union of Veterans of the Republic of Armenia NGO to obtain passes for 30 veterans of the Great Patriotic War to undergo treatment at health resorts.
According to Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan, the adoption of the draft decision derives from the need to provide veterans of the Great Patriotic War with social protection and help them rest and recover, and it falls in line with the provisions in part 3 of Article 4 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On veterans of the Great Patriotic War”.
As of May 1, 2019, there are nearly 350 veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in Armenia. They are between the ages of 93 and 100 and have social and health-related problems, yet more than 90% of them aren’t able to go to health resorts on their own.
