Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry issued comments on the report of OSCE assessment mission conducted to assess situation in the Karabakh conflict zone.

According to Azerbaijani foreign office “field assessment has reaffirmed the continuation of Armenian policy of settling the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, and revealed infrastructure changes and implementation of economic activity, contrary to the Fourth Geneva Convention and additional Protocols relating to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War as of 12 August 1949 year which Armenia joined in 1993.”

“Azerbaijan supports the Co-Chairs’ appeal to avoid any activities in the occupied territories that would lead to changes in demographic, social, or cultural character of areas affected by the conflict (such as continued illegal settlement, infrastructure developments, economic exploitation, cultural changes, etc), or to avoid steps hindering change of the status-quo and achievement of a peaceful settlement,” reads the statement.

Last week the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs issued a report summarizing results of the field assessment mission.
