The Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia signed and promulgated today the most unprecedented and, legally speaking, the most embarrassing executive order in the history of the Third Republic of Armenia. This is what former Deputy Chief of Staff of the National Assembly Arsen Babayan wrote on his Facebook page, responding to the executive order of the Speaker of the National Assembly which annuls the executive orders issued in July 2019 and regarding the dismissal of several employees of the National Assembly.

“One couldn’t even imagine such a thing. Before issuing that executive order, the Speaker of the National Assembly was obliged to at least sign an executive order on dismissing the Chief of Staff of the National Assembly and all the deputies of the Speaker.

However, if the Speaker of the National Assembly fails to sign the executive orders “on getting rid” of the Chief of Staff of the National Assembly and all of the deputies of the Chief of Staff, the Chief of Staff and the deputies must immediately leave and forget about public service, if they have a state mindset and professional dignity to a certain extent,” Arsen Babayan wrote.
