It was a lawful decision to ban street trade in Armenia’s capital but first the municipality should take relevant measures before cutting jobs of street traders, said member of the Armenian public council.
Talking to the journalists on Tuesday Hovhannes Hovhannisyan said ban on street trade was among the issues discussed at the meeting of Yerevan Mayor with members of the Public Council.
Hovannisyan deems by banning street trade municipality averted risks of corruption and selling food in unsanitary conditions.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, the Yerevan municipality has launched a program of eliminating street trading. The program’s aim is to prevent citizens from buying low-quality food.
The ban is not imposed on selling flowers, ice-cream, firs, water and other soft drinks.
