YEREVAN. – As the Armenian agricultural market is not properly regulated, it is not a market, but rather is a bazaar, Armenian Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan stated in Parliament.

Karapetyan made his statement in response to Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, who said that although the import of fuel, fertilizers, and agricultural equipment is private business, the farmers still need help by means of centralized purchasing.

"I was told that the Government has no rights to interfere in the market. However, we must take control over the market until it properly develops,” Minister Karapetyan said. “Until that time, the resources must be under government control."
