YEREVAN. - A correspondent of the Haykakan Zhamanak (The Armenian Times) newspaper interviewed Chairman of the oppositional Republic Party Aram Sargsyan.

Below is an excerpt from the interview:

Question: Members of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) state that it is up to the people to decide on the Opposition’s further steps. If the people decide to stay in Liberty Square on April 8, will the ANC leaders obey?

Answer: The public is the power of the Armenian National Congress. It has trusted the ANC during all the political processes that have developed since 2008. The political forces forming the ANC are discussing all the possibilities: staying in the Liberty Square, or marching to Baghramyan Ave. and blocking it, thereby preventing [President] Serzh Sargsyan from going to work. After discussing its steps and possible success, the ANC presents its approaches to the public. If the public declines them we are obliged to obey it.
