YEREVAN. - The Armenian Commission for Protection of Economic Competition has reverted to instances of unfair competition by the Alex Group Company owned by the Parliament member and businessmen Samvel Alexanyan.

Ukrainian mass media reported recently that some vodkas produced by the Alex Group company resemble a number of Ukrainian brands. Last year, the Commission for Protection of Economic Competition initiated seven administrative actions against the Alex Group company and imposed fines totaling AMD 3.5 million for unfair competition.

The company, however, appealed all the seven decisions to the Court of Appeals.

The Armenian law “On protection of economic competition” provides for a maximum fine of AMD 500,000  for unfair competition. Amendments to the law provide for stricter punishment.
