Forces loyal to internationally recognized Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara are assaulting presidential residence where Laurent Gbagbo is hiding, RIA Novosti reports referring to AFP.
Earlier French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said Gbagbo has to do nothing but surrender.
Earlier today Laurent Gbagbo denied he is surrendering to forces loyal to Ouattara. However, offered to negotiate terms for surrender. In an interview with French TV channel Gbagbo said he is not a kamikaze and loves life. Foreign press says he is sheltering in the bunker of the presidential residence in the center of his stronghold Abidjan.
Last week the UN Security Council adopted resolution on Ivory Coast calling on Laurent Gbagbo to step down and hand reins of power to internationally recognized President Alassane Ouattara. The reports say at least 460 people were killed and over 1 million became refugees since the conflict broke out.
