Forces loyal to elected Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara surrounded house of Laurent Gbagbo on Thursday, Voice of America reports.

Clashes between supporters of two presidents continue in Ivory Coast after pro-Ouattara forces tried to attack on Wednesday presidential residence where Gbagbo was sheltering with his family. However, they met resistance of Gbagbo’s guards.

Residence of Japanese Ambassador to Ivory Coast was captured by troops on Thursday, while envoy was evacuated by French helicopters.

Last week the UN Security Council adopted resolution on Ivory Coast calling on Laurent Gbagbo to step down and hand reins of power to internationally recognized President Alassane Ouattara. The reports say at least 460 people were killed and over 1 million became refugees since the conflict broke out.
