YEREVAN. - According to its statement, last year the State Treasury of Precious Metals and Stones of the Ministry of Finance of Armenia sold 1,358.5 grams of pure silver and transferred AMD 460,000 to the state budget.

Overall, the Treasury has to date sold 219.1 kg. of chemically pure silver and transferred the funds to the state budget. In fact, the agency has sold 40% of Armenia’s total silver reserves.

Last year, the agency effected ten transactions to reserve precious metals and stones. The Armenian state reserves were replenished with 6,035 articles of gold (27.2 kg) and 64 articles of silver (6.1 kg). All the transactions were effected after the articles were confiscated in the state interests.

By January 1, 2011, the national treasury had the following at its disposal: gold (net weight of 14.1 kg) worth AMD 227.2 million, silver worth AMD 6 million, and the alloy of silver and palladium worth AMD 8.7 million.
