In the last two months, about 11,000 old car bodies have been collected in the republic. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan informed this on his Facebook page.
"Let's clean Armenia from garbage," he added and posted a respective video.
The video mentions that the “last stop” of old scrap metal in Armenia is the steel foundry of Charentsavan, and there are so many abandoned cars in the country.
A spokesman for a scrap metal processing company said they have been dumped on the roads, but when they wanted to collect them, their owners appear and say they are theirs. There is also a legislative issue here, given that the owners of that scrap metal do not actually pay property taxes for it.
