YEREVAN. – The situation is tense right now in front of the 6th Department of the Police Armenia, in Yerevan. Lawyer Vahe Danielyan is barred from visiting his client who was taken to the police station today.

The lawyer told Armenian News-NEWS.am that he is there for two hours already, but he is denied entry to the said police department and provide legal assistance to his client.

"I am told he does not want a lawyer, he is an adult, he can answer questions," Danielyan said. “And I say it's a gross violation of the law. Let them allow me to see my client, let him refuse a lawyer in my presence, and I will apologize and go because I came here at the request of [his] relatives."

He added that a rapid response team from the Human Rights Defender's Office's has also come here upon his report, and they are also trying to resolve the issue.
