Liberalization of free arms carrying is being discussed in Armenia at the discussions of the 7th Business and Innovation Forum on Sunday.

Speaking during discussions of the development strategy of the defense industry of Armenia, Instigate CJSC CEO, Arman Poghosyan, highlighted the need to develop the production of not only innovative military equipment, but also assault rifles, bullets, etc. He asked whether the government intends to take steps to encourage the carrying of weapons.

Chair of the State Military Industry Committee at Armenian Defense Ministry Avetik Kerobyan admitted that he liked the proposal, since the restrictions in the relevant legislation do not correspond to the current Armenian situation.

Noting that the country is at war, he added that the existing legislative restrictions do not allow for trained civilians.

The head of the e-Hayq company Vahagn Poghosyan noted that the current legislation allows everyone to get permission to carry weapons. 

“There is an opportunity to become a member of the hunters union in our country and to acquire rifled weapons that are in no way inferior to military ones, but are sold under the guise of a hunting rifle. Our problem is that people do not want to buy weapons.The country does not produce high-quality rifled weapons as well,” he added.
