The Investigative Committee of Armenia has opened a criminal case—on charges of attempted murder of two or more persons—in connection with conscript Artur Ajamyan’s sustain a fatal gunshot wound and conscript Davit Melikbekyan sustaining gunshot injures on December 2, at a military unit of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Defense Army.

Along the lines of this criminal case, Ajamyan's grandfather, Khatif Ajamyan, was recognized as the victim's legal successor and was interviewed, attorneys Hayarpi Sargsyan and Khachatur Stepanyan were recognized as the legal representatives of the victim's legal successor and participated in the forensic medical examination of Artur’s body, and another forensic was appointed.

The investigation into the criminal case is still in progress.
