YEREVAN. - The structural reforms at the Armenian Ministry of Justice are aimed to enhance the ministry`s efficiency, Armenian Minister of Justice Hrair Tovmasyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Minister Tovmasyan stressed that Armenian society will soon see even larger-scale reforms.

"All the functions of relevant departments must be properly regulated. The policy developing department must not simultaneously be involved in certifying or supervising," the minister said.

The minister intends to focus on the Armenian notarial system. Specifically, notarial fees are not any more paid in cash.

"No doubt this is a corrupt system. We plan to propose amendments to the relevant laws to resolve the problem," Tovmasyan said.

In the context of reforms, the minister does not rule out staff reduction. Tovmasyan is also ready for a negative reaction to radical steps.

"I have never feared radical steps if they produce positive results," he said.
