Several media organizations have issued a statement on the recent attack on Zhoghovurd Armenian daily newspaper.

The statement reads as follows:

“On the night of December 19, anonymous people barged into the editorial office of Zhoghovurd newspaper and, based on the accounts of the newspaper edition’s journalists, destroyed the property, opened drawers, entered the editor’s office and shuffled papers and newspapers, and it is very likely that they were trying to find something. According to preliminary data, no computer or other item has been stolen, but the fact of invasion itself attests to the attempt to exert brutal pressure on a media outlet.

We, the undersigned media organizations, strictly condemn the assault against the editorial office, express our support to our colleagues and demand that law-enforcement authorities take all the measures to reveal the culprits and bring them to justice.”
