YEREVAN. – Razmik Abrahamyan—Director of Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology (Republican Maternity Hospital)—who is accused along the lines of the criminal case into the cases of illegal adoption of Armenia’s children by foreigners, came to court today, Hetq.am reports.

Asked whether he accepts the charges against him, Abrahamyan did not answer clearly and spoke about his poor health.

"Maternity hospitals have nothing to do with this issue," he added, in particular.

A court hearing is set today to decide whether to remand Abrahamyan in custody.

He as well as three others were detained on December 18, as part of the aforementioned criminal case being investigated by the Investigative Committee, and then on December 19, the court ruled that Abrahamyan's detention was illegal, and Abrahamyan was released.

Razmik Abrahamyan, 76, has been charged under the Criminal Code articles on illegal separation or change of child from parents, and commercial bribery.
