Armenia has good macroeconomic indicators (the country is the leader in the region and among CIS countries in terms of economic growth, tourism and other sectors). This is what Chair of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia Babken Tunyan told journalists today.

“Unquestionably, the growth indicator, be it 5, 7 or 10, is not enough to say that everything is fine. What is much more important is the quality, inclusivity, etc. What is important for Armenia is not only growth, but also development,” he said.

He emphasized that Armenia has already taken some steps that the public will see in early 2020, that is, the increase of the minimum salary and pensions. “Amendments have also been made to the Tax Code. There are also actions for long-term effects, including actions to improve conditions for competition,” Tunyan said, adding that there are also problems and one of them is the speed at which the changes are being made.
