Chairman of the State Committee of Science at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia Samvel Harutyunyan and his deputy Vardan Sahakyan have resigned, reports Factor.am.

“You know, it’s probably not worth stating the reasons. At the end of the day, I am rather old, and now it’s time for the younger generation to continue the job,” Harutyunyan said.

Vardan Sahakyan, 60, refused to say why he had resigned.

Samvel Harutyunyan, who has been chairman of the State Committee of Science since 2007, was reappointed upon the decision of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on June 12, 2019.
